Hi! My name is Javi (they/he)
I am a trans, mixed-asian artist, performer, and graphic designer based in Boston, MA. I have been a practicing, multidisciplinary artist for 11 years. I graduated from Rhode Island School of Design (RISD) with a BFA in painting in 2019, and am available for hire for illustration projects, graphic design work, and drag performances.
I perform in drag as KILLABITE, an Oni (demon), and in Spring 2024 I graduated in Class 8 of Kingdom, a bi-annual drag king workshop taught by Jayden Jamison in Cambridge, MA.
Born in the San Francisco Bay Area and raised in Dallas, TX, I was drawn to horror, sci-fi, surrealism, and creature-ness as a kid. I’d sit in a paper shopping bag in the living room and watch Cowboy Bebop, Ghost in the Shell, and Satoshi Kon films with my dad. My mom showed me Jan Svankmajer and The Brothers Quay stop-motion animations. My grandmother introduced me to Salvador Dalí’s work when I was 10. I would draw constantly and write stories and plays. Following this passion led me to becoming an artist, and I feel so lucky to be able to look back and remember all the love and support for my art my friends, family, and mentors showed me growing up. As an adult, I’m still obsessed with creepy, weird stories involving monsters, transformation, or queer poc visions of the future, and my work often draws influence from Japanese and Filipino folktales.
I am available for commissions and would love to bring your design ideas to life! Click the button below to get started.
